Sustainable St Albans

When Sustainable St Albans approached us, they were seeking a digital presence capable of managing their extensive resources and community initiatives. As a prominent local charity, their existing content spanned over one hundred individual pages. Our initial discussions revolved around understanding their specific operational needs and how best to structure this vast amount of information into a logical, user-friendly hierarchy. We aimed to design a responsive, bespoke website that facilitated easy navigation, ensuring residents and volunteers could effortlessly find information regarding local events, climate action groups, and educational materials. Implementing SEO best practices was also a major priority to enhance their online visibility and ensure their local campaigns reached the widest possible audience across Hertfordshire. Handling a website with over one hundred pages requires careful planning and clear information architecture. We began by conducting a thorough content audit, categorising every existing page and consolidating duplicate resources. Charities often accumulate a huge amount of documentation, and our job was to ensure this information was organised in a way that made sense to a first-time visitor. We created a clear wireframe that mapped out the user journey from the homepage down to the most specific sub-pages.
